The Lord Jesus, physician of our souls and bodies, who forgave the sins of the paralytic and restored him to bodily health, has willed that his Church continue, in the power of the Holy Spirit his works of healing and salvation.
There are two sacraments of healing:
Those who receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation with a good heart, obtain pardon from God’s mercy for the offence committed against Him and are, at the same time, reconciled with God’s Church. This sacrament is celebrated each week one hour before the 4:00 Vigil Mass on Saturday or by appointment.
- Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
This sacrament is intended for those who are being tried by illness. From ancient times we have testimonies to the practice of anointing of the sick with blessed oil. This anointing is given to those who are seriously ill by anointing them on the forehead and hands with blessed oil while the priest says: “Through this holy anointing may the Lord in his love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from sin, save you and raise you up.”
This sacrament is celebrated annually in community or by appointment.
